Cloud Backup Solutions – Trends

We’ve seen some interesting trends this year so far on the Cloud Backup Solutions platform.

Firstly, a lot more new customers are signing up for our service. In particular, larger companies are realising the benefits of having a Cloud Backup Solution situated in South Africa. Not only does this allow them to be compliant with the POPI act and ensure that no personal information is transmitted across South Africa’s borders, but it also provides the capability for fast and efficient local data recovery in the event of loss, failure or corruption. And no reliance on international transit links.

Secondly, a lot more of our customers are being caught out by so called “ransomware” – trojans and viruses that encrypt your data and then demand a release fee; thus holding you (and your data) hostage until such payment is made. And even then unfortunately, don’t decrypt files after payment leaving an additional hole in the pocket. Thankfully for our clients, our Cloud Backup platform is not susceptible to these (or any) types of infections, and they are quickly and simply able to restore data back from a previous point in time.

Lastly, it is clear that overall, awareness is growing. We receive a lot of enquiries. Sometimes these do not progress, but at least we have been able to provide education, background information and understanding, and perhaps those leads will return in the future. We do see an unfortunate number of customers signing up once data loss has already been experienced; a case of “closing the stable door after the horse  has bolted”. But, at least they are now protected for the future.

By signing up for our encrypted, secured, compression and de-duplication enabled service, individuals and companies are able to protect their data 100%, with immediate restore capabilities, no contracts, monthly billing and great support. We provide a 30 day, no-obligation free trial. Back up as much as you need to, and click continue or cancel in your first invoice email. It’s really as simple as that. We also now offer debit order through SagePay.
